Gift Wrapping Guide
12:08 PM
Scouring countless shopping isles and battling crazed holiday crowds is enough to make anyone want to spend their holiday break underneath their blankets crying, "Bah! Humbug!"
This year, don't turn gift wrapping into a chore.
Speed-walk past those money-hungry gift wrapping booths at the mall and come home and wrap your gifts with love.Santa Baby |
We're trying to prevent this fiasco:
I know they say it's the thought that counts, but... |
TIME:
20-30 Minutes/Gift
WHAT YOU NEED:
*A Gift
*Wrapping Paper
I'm using Mover's Packing Paper, which is made from recycled newsprint.
*Scissors
*Tape
*Artificial Flowers
*3D Puffy Paint
*Fabric
I had a roll lying around, but you could use scraps from a cut shirt or even an old pair of jeans.
WHAT TO DO:
1. Measure the paper around the circumference of the box, making sure you have enough to go all the way around, with a little extra.
2. Cut the extra.
Snip! |
3. Lay the paper on a large, flat surface and place the item in the center of the paper.
4. Pick up either side of the paper and pull it over the present until it reaches the other side.
5. Add tape.
Pull the edges to straighten out any wrinkles or creases. |
Tug and tape.
7. Cut any extra paper that would get in the way of folding it. My box was about 2 inches wide so I eye-balled a little less than that.
8. Lay the gift flat on one side and fold down one of the flaps of paper. Hold it down as you do the same thing the opposite side.
8. Fold down one of the adjacent sides, then fold down the last remaining flap.
If you have a little extra paper peeking out, go ahead and lift the flap and snip it off. |
Once I folded down all the sides, they were overlapping,
so I cut off a little and straightened the edge.
9. Once you have the the edges cut straight, tug and tape the first set of flaps.
10. Tape down the final set of flaps.
Don't forget to tug, then tape! |
You're almost there! |
Be careful not to touch the metal part of the glue gun, it gets extremely hot! |
You could place the fabric higher, lower, diagonal, whatever! |
14. Apply glue and add pressure as you place it down on the box.
The glue takes anywhere between 5-10 seconds to dry, depending on thickness.
I lifted the fabric and added glue sporadically to keep the fabric in place.
15. Cut the plastic off the back of the flower.
16. Apply glue. Press onto the box and hold down, applying pressure.
